Episode 01: The Map is Not the Territory (with Melody Coryell)

On this first episode, I talk with Melody Coryell, a Milken Educator Award-winning teacher of Literature, Composition, and Theory of Knowledge. Our conversation ranges from memories of family in the hills of Tennessee, to the nature of truth vs. Truth, and the beauty of being a custodian.

Because we’re recording in the midst of a global pandemic from our cell phones, the sound quality is always audible, but not amazing.

Also…I was recording from my mother’s home in Kokomo, IN, and there is a funny moment where she interrupts us with an urgent Thai-food takeout problem. I left it in, because it was amusing and definitely True and led to a charming story of a Webex mishap. How many of us have had Zoom meetings interrupted by parents or children or spouses? This is the moment we’re living in, and it is hard sometimes, but also occasionally funny and beautiful.

Enjoy!
