Episode 23: This Green Is So Green (with Beck Buechel)

Beck Buechel is a glorious human being. They’re a singer and a burlesque performer, and above all, a person who is fundamentally interested in the world around them. The introduction I use every week describes Beck TO A TEE.

There’s a Walt Whitman quote that I was turned onto recently – by the show Ted Lasso – which, sidebar, if you haven’t seen, you MUST. It is ten episodes devoted to the Beautiful & True, and you will laugh and cry and possibly your perspective will shift a little and even if it doesn’t, it will do your heart so much good, so go watch it.

But this Whitman quote – “Be curious, not judgmental.” I think that must be tattooed somewhere on Beck’s soul, because they live it, and it’s so clear with every word that comes tumbling out. As I was editing this episode, I kept smiling all over again. This conversation left me inspired and uplifted and encouraged. Have I talked about the word encouraged?

It comes from French (and Latin), and it literally means to put the heart back into someone. I think this episode will put the heart back into you, because Beck’s energy and positivity and zest for life is contagious. I can’t wait for you to meet them. Here we go!
